Pics of the baches

This is a birds eye views of the baches out at the beach. You will notice they are numbered and I have pics of each bach.

From the main road you would enter this picture from the top with the beach off the bottom.

Things are progressing

Today is Wednesday 16 February (not sure what time this website uses)and things appear to be moving forward at last in terms of achieving some positive outcomes with the Trust.

In the last month I have:

1)Had a korero with Rob Craig who leases the beach section to graze his cattle.
2)Had a korero with two cuzzies who are "part of the furniture at Whangaehu Marae" (Alan and Peter) and both have Whanau with vested interests in the Beach.
3)Took my Whanau out to the section after going to "Service" out at the Pa on the 25th. It allowed them to see what I had been talking about for years but appeared to be something of a pipe dream to them. Whats more, I took a camera along to take photos of all the baches and the beach (will upload some photos when I can organise it). What an eye-opening and beautiful day in the end.
4) Met Aunty Lil and had a korero with her about the Beach. She gave me a key to what was supposed to be an empty bach for Whanau. When I got out there it was occupied by someone unknown and the key didn't work. Aunt Lil had no idea as to who it was. I'm sure I will hear more about it.
4) Got some information concerning the Beach from a surveyor.
5) Done some research on legislation or rights afforded to land squatters.

I would like to think that I will go into more detail at some point but time will tell. Suffice to say that I met some more Whanau and new people, all with different, exciting and interesting perspectives on what they would like to see.

At the end of the day...go back to my Mission Statement. If it fits in with it, I am all good.

What has happened in the last two weeks:

A meeting of some of the Trustees along with some Whanau went to the Maori Land Court on Monday 8 February.

The result is that there is to be an AGM on the 30th of April held at Whangaehu Marae.

There is also to be a Special Trust meeting sometime in March of which I will have some input but more in terms of ensuring every aspect is considered and sorted.

Let 2011 be the year to remember for all the right reasons.

Yeehaa!!!!
